The app has an issue with passwords that have special characters. If you try to login and your password has a special character, then you get the “Whoops! Check your inputs,” error. Go to their website to change your password to something simple and suddenly you can log in through the app. You can change your password back (again using their website) and the app stays logged in. Until it randomly logs you back out. Sometimes a video just won’t play. Other videos will, but not the one you wanted to watch. Come back (much) later and the video will load. Subtitles will randomly stop working.

  • Racist comments go undeleted

I ended my premium subscription to VRV because racist comments went undeleted for several days despite a report being filed. The comments are extremely toxic and often unrelated to the video. Even worse, episodes would show up hours after they were scheduled to be released.
  • Premium

Actually used to be 5 stars but then I noticed that there were now series that required premium to watch. Makes it look VRV is saying “Oh, is there something you want to watch but don’t have the money to go premium? Well, I guess you’re not watching it then.”

Where did season one of My Hero Academia go? I remember VRV has it, but now it’s gone. My friend was watching season one when it disappeared, too! Please add it back! I don’t care if it’s subbed or dubbed. My Hero Academia is one of my favorite animes, and I’m sure other people would agree. Other than that, VRV is the best place to watch anime (not season one of My Hero Academia, though, cause it’s gone now 🙄) Ok so I’m back again a day later and now S1 of Attack on Titans is off? You gotta me kidding me. What’s going on?!? Is it copyright issues? Or was it an accident? Please let us know! You can’t just take off a whole season of popular anime! Please fix this!

So I like this app, like I use this app to watch anime on my daily basis so I love it. Yeah adds do bother me but I still enjoy it. But one thing is that on mha (my hero academia) season one is gone. I was going to show my friend this series since I love it but she can’t start on it if she goes to season two. Sorry that was just something I wanted to add, but I do recommend getting this app for anime.

So my review of the app is more like a review of the homepage because that's as far as I have ever gotten. I have an iPhone XR running the latest version of iOS 12 and I have not ever been able to sign in on the app. I looked through the reviews and I found someone else with the same problem. Basically what happens is I'll input my email and password (just like I would on any other device) and as soon as I hit enter it says "whoops check your inputs". Now, I open Safari and go to the VRV website, input the exact same email and password (even go ahead and save it to my password keychain) and boom! login with no issues. I looked through the FAQ page trying to find a solution or a form to contact the developer but I haven't had any luck, just a bunch of useless FAQ irrelevant to my issue. The only remedy I've found is linking my VRV account to my Crunchyroll account so I can at least watch CR content on my phone, but it would be nice to have the full VRV app if I want to watch HarmonQuest or anything else that's not on Crunchyroll. As a paying customer for a while now, I would appreciate it if the developer would at least read this review in hopes that they might be able to rectify the problem... Otherwise what's the point of paying for the service if I can't even use the app. Might as well switch to Crunchyroll only and save a couple bucks.
  • Very poorly designed, almost pay-to-watch

Alright, so after some patience, I actually realized how it works, and it isn’t bad, although the ads are a little annoying in how they play 3 on one advert, it’s not too bad to deal with. Edited: After more experience with it I am now realizing how bugged the ads are, the skippable ones completely freeze everything and the episode often times plays on top of the advertisement, causing for both audios to play, but only the advertisements’ video plays, and, in most of the cases, sometimes doesn’t play and causes me to just miss more of the show. Basically, it’s still better on pc with adblock enabled. No ads without having to support poor design choices.
