  • Freeze panes and the Apple Pencil

We work off of lists all the time for work. The pencil is really great with that! I love being able to check things off and make quick notes without having to pull up the keyboard. However, the pencil does not work if you have the freeze panes on. I love to freeze the top row so my title of the columns scroll down with me. But if I do that then the pencil will not work. That is the only downside I have found so far.

Please fix the voice to text for iPhone 7! When I hit the microphone the app crashes. It worked in the beginning when I first downloaded the app but then we had an iPhone update and it stopped working.
  • Not good customer service

I have been trying to contact them FOR MONTHS about a bug. (If you use microphone on the iPhone to dictate, app immediately crashes) I catalog book ISBNs- sometimes 50-or-so At a time- and the 13 digit number is so easy to dictate instead of typing. Now, I have to dictate in Messages, then copy/paste everything over. I get canned responses from Excel referring me to tutorials on their website like it is something I can fix. I have tried six friend’s phones, they all crash, too. They obviously aren’t listening, bug still hasn’t been patched. There was an “update” today with “bug fixes.” I was excited! But it wasn’t fixed. I feel defeated, I haven’t found a way to actually tell someone at Microsoft- poor customer service. But otherwise, the Office Suite is powerful, an amazing tool. I just wish someone there would listen, or was even accessible.

  • Excel 365 on iPad

This version of Excel is reasonably workable on an iPad, but: 1) I really feel hampered not being able to use a mouse. 2) The more advanced tools missing (from the laptop version) are an issue for some users. 3) The on-screen iPad keyboard severely limits the viewable area of the spreadsheet itself. Rather than use a separate keyboard with the iPad to address that, seems more logical to use Excel on a small laptop to address all 3 of my issues.

I continue being disappointed in how Excel works in iOS. I can only continuously display a fixed header row, or a fixed left column, but not both simultaneously. In scrolling through a very large spreadsheet I require both top row and left side column be simultaneously displayed to act as coordinates. Also, it isn't clear when a 'save' has occurred so that I can safely quite the app by the same process that I would use to close other apps. Nooooooo, instead I have to first use the 'back' soft button in the app's top left corner to ensure latest version is pushed back to the file location, and only then can I safely close the app with aforementioned process if I want the latest changes to be saved. And further I have an older iPad that stores files using an app called File Manager, where File Manager is a location that Excel apparently cannot access in its menu of available locations from which I can open saved files. I have tried adding this location but it isn't available as a location option through Excel. I can open an Excel file in File Manager indirectly by first opening the file through File Manager's native reader, then pushing that reader's spreadsheet into the Excel app the same way I would push something to a printer. In this case however my Excel credentials are not being recognized and I can only open a read-only copy that cannot be changed or saved. I am consequently allowed to only work in Excel while online after I have first downloaded a spreadsheet, a problematic situation when I would need to open and close a 50MB file more often then once a day and am using a limited data allowance of my cellular plan for internet access. I am very surprised at the ineffectiveness of the Microsoft subscription service in not provisioning to meet these obvious needs. It's been years guys/gals. What's up? You folks should be paying me to keep beta testing your so-called released products. Pretty shoddy you guys.

Spent an hour selecting specific data from a spreadsheet. Only allowed me to past the info into an email as images and not left. Fine ok, I can leave with that if I have to. But then when I sent the email all the images became blank. All my work was erased. This is total B S. Microsoft is the worst.
